■Defend and promote the rights and interest of people who have been labeled “mentally ill.”
■Support the recipient’s right to be treated with dignity and respect.
■Support the recipient’s right to freedom to control his or her life.
■Provide peer advocacy and assist recipients in speaking out so that the individual’s choices and wishes are made clear and are respected.
■Deal with positive and negative issues within the mental health community. ■Operate services and programs, as needed, for self-identified mental health service recipients.
