Georgie was 'born' in the summer of 1904, in Hague, NY. He popped up all over Lake George, and seemed to like teasing people. Later he was the star of a local carnival, escaped a fire, and traveled all the way to the Virgin Islands and back.

To celebrate summer reading and our beautiful lake waters, we have Georgie-related handouts and make-your-own lake monster puppets in our children's room. We encourage kids and parents to learn more about Georgie's colorful life: pay him a visit at the Lake George Historical Association Museum. (Hours: July - August, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays - 11am to 4pm.Wednesdays, Thursdays - 3pm to 8pm. Closed Sundays and Mondays.)
